It would also be helpful to know what your budget is...

So to Gerry’s point - I actually have 2 spools for my saltist 3000 but when I’m fishing from rocks I run the spool with power pro braid 50 on it with a 6-8 foot of 30lb top shot. From there I normally run conventional rigs but I’ve run jigs with that set up also.

Remember - the thinner and lighter braid is to help you with not just feeling the bite but also cutting through 50-100 feet of water in wind and tide movement. You don’t really run into that issue fishing from rocks when you’re only dealing with 10-15 feet of water if that.

I’ve done very well from the rocks fishing my conventional spool set up with jigs.

When I go out on a boat I bring 2 rods - 1 for conventional set up and then my jigging world rod with my spool with 30 lb j braid but I even think that’s over kill I could get away with 10 or 20 for jigging.

Everyone has their own preferences. Gotta find what works for you!

And on a side note -Don’t worry by the time your a couple hundred bucks in the hole in lost rigs , jigs, and top shot you’ll be too hooked to fishing TOG to give a crap.

Tight lines!
