Fizzing is a good thing to know anytime you catch deep water fish and is what is expected of a responsible fisherman.
They might swim down but delayed mortality is a thing. That's a big pressure change. It's one thing when they're up and down the water column chasing bait in the Fall - another when they've spent a month+ sitting deep.

I stopped targeting them this time of year - they deserve a break at some point in this state. But to each their own.
