Night bite
Went carping in the 58 degrees Millstone River on the south shore in West Windsor, NJ, in the cold rain this evening. Was surprised to see other fishermen out in the rain. Nobody was there when I quit fishing at night though. Didn’t fish on the north shore because the water there was covered with duck weed. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught nothing until after dark. Lost my jig on the bottom of the river. Landed 4 fish on my last 4 casts. Caught and released an 8” bluegill, 17” white catfish, and 18” channel catfish with ShopRite canned whole kernel corn on a #4 gold long shank hook and 12 lb test line. Beached a 3 lb common carp on my last cast of the day. Caught 76 carp this year. Bugs were out in the rain. A lot of the weeds at the dam floated upriver at dusk.
