Default More Bonito Insanity

Fished a NS out of Pt. Pleasant.

Came across some working birds and breaking fish about 3 miles outside the inlet. This turned out to be small bluefish with some chub mackerel in the mix. Saw some brown shadows and for a second I got excited because I thought they might be cobia but the tuned out to be small spinner or black tip sharks.

Continued offshore to the area we fished on Sunday. Wasn’t fast and furious but enough of a pick of bonito, bluefish and mackerel to keep your attention.

Moved further offshore. Took a little bit to get them going but once they did it was insane. Schools of bonito follow your jig up or your hooked fish up.. 6,7,8,9 fish coming up in waves. Both jigs and 4” Tsunami split tail minnows were hot. I fished the later and caught fish every cast. Flip it out, allow it to sink and get away from the boat, lock up your reel and twitch the rod tip while occasionally reeling. Even if you missed one or pulled the hook another was there to take it. Crazy. I ended the day with 36 bonito (most of those in the last 2 hours), 6 bluefish and a few chub mackerel
