[Tuna Tales]

Tuesday, July 17th the Hi-Mar Striper Club sponsored 24 members of the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth and their 4 chaperones on the Bingo. Most of the kids were very excited when they got on the boat with a few wondering what did I get myself into here?

Fishing was slow overall as there was almost no wind. But they caught all the usual suspects: skates, dogfish, sea robins, and fluke. But there was enough action to keep all the kids fishing. There was a lot of curiosity and shouts as each new species was brought in.

They also saw cow-nosed rays just below the surface many times and one small whale just breaking the surface.

It was hot, but almost of the kids fished right through. They did "break" for lunch. Everyone went home happy.
