When those Bonito move in close you need to move fast. Most of us are never that lucky and they always seem to come close when the angler least expects it, and is unprepared, but if you had a fresh water sized spinning rod with about 8-10 pound test and a few small white bucktails or perhaps an AVA 007[ smaller is better] rigged and ready, you might have nailed a few. They have great eye sight and seldom hit a rig with a lot of "stuff" on it... another good choice is a light spinner, and a SMALL hook totally hidden in a whole Spearing.. Only problem with the single Spearing from shore is you might not be able to get it to the fish.. Works great from a boat though.. Sometimes better than anything else.
Never tried it, but a big live Killie tossed out with no weight and a small hook might work as well.... bob
