FINALLY got the chance to get out and fish friday - rained out on my first two attempts this spring. launched to gorgeous conditions and found some schoolie bass and blues in shallow water (3-5 feet deep, 18-23 inch fish). Played with them a little then went on the hunt for the big boys. Had to do some searching but found some action and had two big stripers in the boat on the first drop. my buddy lost another big one when somehow the swivel came undone. action died down after that short flurry and fish scattered so we set out and trolled up a nice blue. things finally went dead so we went into sandy hook bay and briefly tried a few spots for some fluke but no takers on gulp. nice day on the water.
