I prefer a faster action rod (like the St. Croix) to set the hook with a quick wrist snap. Having said that, I've been schooled by better anglers whose slower action rods allowed them to slowly set the hook as the fluke / flounder eats the jig and turns away.

1. Usually lighter than 2oz BT but sometimes I have to use 3oz sinker
2. I tell people to set the hook slowly(gently lift the rod) but most of them don’t listen Lol
