Shinnecock Bay before you get to the Hampton Lady I believe there is an access road on the left that will take you right to the water. Seen tons of kayaks there and, depending on what kind of day you have and kayak you're using, I've seen kayaks out to Shinnecock reef out front. Never been to Montauk, but will look for your report.
