Sure, I'd give them a shot... Only problem is the cork butts. When you hook up there is going to be a fair amount of pressure on the rod and the cork butt is going to make it harder to get it out of the rod holder. That and eventually the cork is likey to get fatigued from the pressure on it in the rod holder. This is why trolling rods typically have slick butts made with either aluminum or hard plastics.
