Thanks for the education! The ones I was catching had the downward mouth. I see them all the time feeding on the bottom in a brook I sometimes hit up. I don't think I've ever caught a fallfish then.
i put my tin can 12ft jon boat with electric in hopatcong all the time (just not day time in summer). check the weather and it's all good, put the boat in near the area you want to fish and you'll never have to cross it either.
