For a much maligned river, the Passaic is certainly high quality in regards to fish life - at least upriver. Seven species evening - largemouth(7) and smallmouth bass(2), black crappie(6), bluegill(2), redbreast sunfish(4), yellow(6) and white perch(1). Alas no pike love at all. Mosquito activity was so-so - a few here and there. Streamside vegetation is late summer, jungle-like as usual. Otherwise the river itself is low and clear with many weed beds to target. Not bad for an hours worth of fishing.
