My buddy and I headed to Spruce Run super early in the morning targeting catfish. The owner of Behre Bait shop a few miles from SR was super friendly and got us some shiners and herring. After about an hour of no bites on live or dead bait, we called it quits and headed to a trout stream nearby. I forgot my fly rod (much to my chagrin) and had to resort to my ultralight rod. Hooked, landed, and dropped (accidentally!) a 15-16" trout back into the water while my friend got two nice bows to take home for his family. We walked downstream and the water was super low, but there was a small pool and I casted a rooster tail into it. Rather than a brown or rainbow, I caught a really nice largemouth for such a small stream! Popped the treble out and sent it on its merry way. Caught and released about 5 smallmouth too!
