They catch these fish in extremely deep water the reason is not to get so many in a hookup but to go down that deep & loose your bait a long way back without anything with just say 2 hooks. I see many of fisherman who just fish our offshore Sea Bass wreck trips & use the same amount of hooks. I personally don't like using that many hooks I only use 2 the tangles they create are not worth it. But I understand why they use them in those depths. Great pictures Marc I only wished we had that type of fishing over here.

I normally don't don't like more than 2 hooks too, but on those trips I use 3 and that's more than enough. The ling and whiting are so plentiful up there, you can get by with 2 hooks even at over 300ft. Tie the loops about 3 or 4 ft above the sinker for whiting. The whiting were so big, we were using 5/0 hooks 2 weeks ago.
