Lamington, North Branch 6/19/16:
Splashed the canoe just below Fiddlers Elbow County Club golf course on the Lamington. Fished a few tight spots, nothing. Ran into another angler seemingly in the middle of nowhere and he said he was doing good with SMB in the 15" range. Talked to another angler at the broken dam on the Lamington and he said he got a few trout and SMB also. Continued down and hit a few of my out of the way places on the N branch and came up empty. What I did not like was the lack of juvenile SMB on the N Branch. Normally during the summer months I see smallmouth bass in the 5 to 8 inch range all over the place, today I saw only but a few. At times I would see a few bigger ones, not today. The deeper pools seemed infested with carp. I hate to use the word "lifeless" as that is rather harsh, but other than a few sunfish and minnows, there wasn't much going on in the painfully low water that we are seeing now. So when the fishing gets slow I go into clean up mode, 3 tires from the Lamington and 4 tires from the North Branch. Total trip was about 10 miles, put in around 9am and was off the water by 2:30pm at the confluence with the South Branch.
