NJSquatch, I've used inline circle hooks and had good results with them before I switched over to using artificial lures and flies. The Gamakatsu Size 6 hooks below work great for stockies. Eagle Claw makes a size 8, which is what I would recommend if you are fishing a stream that has both stocked and wild trout. I've caught small trout using bait on a size 6 circle hook and had the hook go right through their eye, which is why I recommend size 8 if you are going to be fishing where wild trout are present. Fortunately trout can survive with just one eye.

As far as powerbait goes. I've caught stockies using powerbait with the hook point exposed, and using salmon eggs with the hook point exposed. They don't seem to care as long as the rest of the presentation is good.
I've seen plenty of trout caught by fishermen who use beads where an entire hook is visible, and I've caught plenty of trout using egg flies where the hook point is visible.
