Live herring nose hooked at 1mph is my method. I use snap weights 2oz that gives me 2 to 1 on depth w a 50 ft lead from snap to bait. If i mark them suspended at 25 i will run like 40 to 45 ft down to be above the marks. Weight is speed dependent. On mm planer boards i use 1oz inlines 6ft ahead w same 50ft setback. Ive had no success w shiners at all and herring is pretty much done for the year dows has tiny bait left
