Another option is to try a few artificials. An original Rapala in 3 1/2" to 4" should get you pickerel and an occasional bass. It's an easy lure to work and shouldn't get hung up because it only dives a couple of feet. Morning or late evenings should work well with it in the summer. Or try some in line spinners, Mepps, Fox Vibrax or Panther Martin. Any fish that eats other fish (which are most) will go after them.
