Default Re: Transducers

Curious why the prop wash is different on one side but not the other. Or that opinion is prop wash?

Side scan or 3 D sonar requires separation of transducrers . The further apart- the better. And they must stay in the water and be free of air bubbles when boat is moving and on plane.

The tru hull must also be free of bubbles outside the hull and in the adhesive used. So chines are out. If it's a slow boat no biggy. But planing hulls are limited wetted areas and trying to find clean water outside the hull free of air bubbles in the water created by the hull are crucial to get it wto work at higher baot speeds.

So obviously the deeper the V the better for you. Look where the water breaks on your chines on plan and mark it. Look to the rear of that as far towards the keel as possible. But remember, the separation between transducers makes it work better. So possibly the other side of the keel as far forward as the clean water planing will allow.

Hope that helps? It's generalities. But its also the consideration as to where to mount the 2nd xducer. And moving the first X ducer further off the keel center line outboard of it would help too with more separation.
