Mike, I agree with you 100% but I was in the minority, However, you don't have to really fish "out of a particular port". Rather you just have to wegh your fish in there. For instance it is within the rules to register for our Manasquan port and then trailer your boat to Sandy Hook or Cape May. You can fish wherever you want within 20 miles of the NJ coast regarless of which port you registered for. However, you do have to be back on time to weigh in your fish at the port that you registered for.
