You don't need chum. If you chum every bergall, banana cod, and dogfish will swarm the piece and ruin the fishing. We catch them on whole or half clam bellies or strings on regular 3/0 hooks. They're VERY aggressive. If you put on a flounder rig, you obviously catch more but you also drop more ling b/c of the small long shank hook.

Joe - you said that you have to get on the edge of the piece - that is true but a lot of the wrecks we fish actually have the fish right on them.

Pics below are just a few (these were some of the ones over 3#) we caught last summer on our "deepwater" bottom trips. We usually averaged 5-10 a trip and we had our limit a few times last year fishing wrecks in 100-240' of water.
