Oh yeah they work. I just have the regular ones no hand warmer and I have black foam ones that slip under the regular tip ups. You need to make sure there is no gap; that it's pushed down flush to the snow/ice. Worst I've had is a layer of soft ice when I go to lift them that mushes right through while the other open holes may have a hard thin layer that has to be broken.
I might really put them to the test Monday but Sunday I'll probably just jig. I can't believe no one else is going out!
