Perhaps the rod tip is too stiff. I'll assume your using Braided line.
Fluke have a lot of soft tissue in their mouths and with no stretch line,
a stiff tipped rod will tear a hole in their mouths. A softer tipped rod with
proper parabolic balance, medium/heavy fast tip may cure your dropseys.
