Thumbs up AC Togging!

Well, we managed to fill the open spot on my Karen Ann II charter for yesterday, 12/06.

Headed down after being picked up by Steli and transferring to Dave D's truck. Met up with Steve Likes to Fish, Greg V & Mike M, at the Karen Ann, for a 6:30 departure.

What can I say, we even saw that shiny yellow orb in the southeast sky, for a brief period of time. The ocean had a 6-7' swell as we left the inlet but that calmed down during the morning and we were fishing in what I would call great weather for this time of year, I didn't even need a jacket!

First drop & I got slammed! Set the hook & even managed to get 3-4 turns when my 60# leader got sliced by the wreck. Retied & dropped down again same result. Retied again, moved over just a tad, dropped again and got an immediate bite, but not that same thump. Reeled in a keeper, but no monster. Lost 4 rigs in the first 20 minutes but did manage 1 keeper for ever 2 rigs. Of course as I was dropping & tieing others were also dropping fish on the deck. Well not exactly on the deck, as Capt. Adam doesn't like a dirty deck! As you lifted your fish, if it looked to be keeper size he would grab the line & swing it into a bucket to dehook & measure.

By 11:00 all had limits or double limits, with the exception of Ron (well I had a Ron limit!) and the slightly demented guy who kept insisting that jigging for Tog was the way to go. Even if you only have 2 fish? Anyway, at 11:30 Captain Adam advised us that we had a boat limit and he figured the rain was about 10-20 minutes west of AC, so what did we want to do? He offered a couple options but I decided we would give it another hour and try for a bigger fish! So we pulled anchors at 12:30 (at one point it was so calm that we didn't even anchor but just sat over a piece.) and we headed in to cut fish in the rain and head home!

Great day with a great crew!
