How big is the boat? car top or trailer?
If it is car top i would throw it in behind the new Stop & shop on rt23 & pompton plains crossroad. easy access in the back of the parking lot.
from that point on is great fishing with some deep holes. I float that stretch a lot in a kayak.
The launch behind mccobs is a straight cliff! and you will hit (2) dams not too far down river.
The Pinebrook grill launch on 202 is good and will allow trailers to launch but you miss pretty much the whole river unless you go upstream.
The river is low and some spots are only 1ft of water or less so i would not put anything in but a flatbottom or layak unless you are far down river like pinebrook launch. but then you miss prime fishing spots.
