If you put suntan lotion on and use your hands to rub it in, the fish will smell it on your bait/lure and won't touch it.
This one I've found to be true...more for Saltwater but I'm superstitious in general so I won't do it for Freshwater.
USE THE SPRAY! Won't get on your hands.
