I generally believed that until I caught a 3 lb wiper and a 24 inch rainbow on a Yozuri Snap Bean, which is smaller than the nail on my pinkie.
I still generally fish big lures because I don't want to catch sunnies, perch or tiny bass but I've caught many a fish on lures almost as big, or bigger than the fish, so that doesn't work either.
