Default Re: Do I NEED AGM batts for 24v

hate to say it but theres a huge difference in capacity between equal size AGMs and wet cells. Yes u do get what u pay for, almost everything in life is like that. a group 29 walmart deep-cycle has 205 amp hours, the same size blue top optima has 120.....yes AGMs are lighter and can handle many more cycles, but how many guys are on the water more than weekends half the year? I use an expensive AGM for my big boat starting battery, it sits in a slip and the bilge and main need juice to start, other than that batteries plus 31's and in little boat all walmart 29s and a 27 dual purpose for main......my 80 terrova can troll the 16.5 lowe all day on the reservoir at 1.5mph, never had it get below 40%.....we r talking 7-8 hours worth of trolling
