The 7040 I think is a little heavy for fluke even with 8-12oz sinkers. Its actually a perfect blackfish/seabass rod.

For blues/bass I use the tad heavier models GLoomis PBR844S and C.

Honestly if I had to buy them all over, I'd go see Kevin Bogan and have him make me a couple of sticks for about the same if not a little cheaper.
