Went out on Fayson last night. Got on the water about 7:30 p.m. and trolled around to see if I could bag a trout and soon had a nice brown (or is it a tiger, sometimes I can't tell). As the sun was setting I decided to hit the shallows to see how the bass were doing. Usually this time of the year they are practically jumping in the boat, but the fishing was slow. My favorite bait this time of year is the Swim Senko. Bagged one small bass and a rock bass. Then I tied into what I thought at first was a good sized bass, but turned out to be a 5 lb channel cat. Got that one the Senko. Finished up the night about 10:30 trying topwater, but did nothing. Where are the bass?

I know we had a big fish kill last summer when they threw in weed killer during a heat wave and someone reported finding 50 or so dead bass, some very big, floating near the outlet. I wonder if that was just the tip of the iceberg because I didn't catch many last fall either. I'm really hoping they didn't destroy what was an outstanding LMB fishery.
