I've had some pretty good luck there, usually from a small John boat using live bait. One evening in the John boat I noticed a school of something breaking the surface. I thought it was trout sipping bugs, but as I got closer I could see it was the backs of the fish breaking the surface and that they were chasing something just under the surface. I chased them around and finally landed one on a rapala -- the biggest bluegill I've ever seen. They were schools of huge hump-headed bluegills. Never seen anything like it.

I've read good reports from there before, so I know the fish are there, I guess I'll have to try it in the spring and not the end of fall. The place can get busy on weekends, too, which is kinda a pain. If I'm up that way, I usually just continue on to Monksville. I did pull a nice bass out of Ringwood Mill Pond a few years go, right around Shepherd's lake, too. It's worth a few casts if you're ever passing it.
