Less hardware is the way to go. I snell a fluke hook that I tied up during the winter (chartruese, pink, or white), with strong leader material approx 30inches. Tie a barrel swivel 6 or 7 inches from the hook with a loop through and around the swivel, and snug up. From the swivel measure about 18inches , and fold the leader back and make a double thru medium to large loop and tighten up. Cut off slack leader. For River use only, I will shorten a couple of inches. Sinker or Bucktail jig can be attached to the loop. I often outfish everyone on the boat with this rig, especially when I'm alone.
