Lanier is a killer striped bass destination, and holds a great population of LM and SM too. Anything south of the virginias will be fishable all winter long, just make sure u do your homework on bass behavior in warmer areas, they hold depths much different in lakes that dont freeze over. Basically look for videos/info on pre spawn and winter fishing. Dont know how close u need to be to the lake but u can easily find cheaper hotels down south that are 50-75 a night a few miles away and just pay launch fees for the few days you will put the boat in, on water cabins/lodging is usually a rip-off no matter what the season
