Sounds like you guys might of fished a similar stretch that I hit last Monday. After a couple hours of working I had a nice looking pike come out of sunken tree and clamp down on a husky jerk. I went to set the hook and ripped it right out its mouth
and that was the only fish I saw all day and went home with the skunk. Good job finding some hungry perch!
