I use 40 pound leader material but ill retie my set up frequently as any time i feel a fray i get paranoid. also using braided line i feel i can tie tighter knots with a smaller diameter mono. Now all this advise brings about the truth. I pretty much suck at tog fishing and haven't caught very many "slobs"!!! So do what you will.
