Had some free time on thurs so I went out with my buddy to check out some new areas. First spot was a public launch I hadn't been to before. Couple dpw guys were there removing tires from the river.
The stretch was semi low and super clear. Picked up a few dink bass then hooked a nice Larry, 2-3#. Few casts later my buddy got a good smallie that came out from a pile of tires, lol.
Later that day we launched another new area with muddy banks and somewhat stained. Half hour in I hooked a nice low 30s pike. Few casts later I hooked what I thought was another pike but turned out to be my first river pickerel.
Looked to be mid to high 20s and thick. Unfortunately my buddy was slow with the net and he came unbuttoned. Topped it off with a few more small pike and a beast perch.
All in all a good day and always nice to find some new spots............
