Had a very nice vacation at Lake Placid, NY last week with my family and my long-time fishing buddy's family. Brought the boat and took the kids out, they had a blast. Scenery is beautiful, and the weather is fantastic without the heat & humidity of a Jersey summer. The lake has every flavor of trout in it including lakers in the 125' depths... Jamie caught a rainbow on a small crankbait and we saw several others cruising shallow bays. It also has a great population of smallies and perch. I caught a couple big yellow perch and a decent smallmouth, among tons of small fish between all of us.

Our boys each caught fish while working a fairly shallow bay with lots of rock and weed cover

Jamie's daughter... she caught 11 fish on a pretty blustery day... the key was drifting over rock piles and drop-offs

Now I know the meaning of "Take a kid fishing!"
