Default Re: Worst hooks ever the English Bend/Kahle

We try to encourage our customers to switch over to an Octopus Style Hook because of this same reason. I know many fish are hurt just by the way they are handled before the release, but a hook in the throat is a death sentence.

Fluke have a very large mouth and we have caught shorts on 8/0 hooks intended for another species. a 5/0 is the ideal size, maybe a 4/0, but nothing smaller than that.

There are some interesting videos of fluke taking the bait online. They can follow your bait as long as 3 or 4 minutes sometimes. It was a learning experience watching this. I will see if I can find them....... but once you watch them, you will realize that a 5/0 Octopus Hook is not going to miss fish. They either ambush their prey, or they follow it a while. Either way, that hook is getting inhaled.
