Back when I had some free time, I used to catch my own shiners in the creek with tiny size 12 hooks tipped with a miniscule piece of shrimp. It was like trout fishing on a micro scale.

It must be genetics, because my crazy mom actually encourages me to dig through the compost pile in her garden for earthworms if she knows I'm going out for panfish. Gotta love stopping at the old residence for a home cooked meal and some fresh worms lol. Lots of white perch and small stripers on them though .
