I know everyone has been foaming at the mouth in anticipation of fluke, but year after year opening day, and the very early part season are a disappointment to most guys.. We all know that water temps in the 50's are not what fluke want.. I am seeing mid 50's on top according to the marine weather stations... 50 or 60 feet down, it might be even lower...
Once we see it steady at 60 + degrees, the big numbers start to flood inshore..
Mid June has always been better for fluke than mid May, thats for sure..

Years ago before bag limits and closed seasons, we were fishing for Whiting Ling and Blacks, and the last of the winter flounder in mid May.
A few boats would start their night blues/stripers as well.
Fluke fishing in mid May just wasn't taken seriously by most... Things have certainly changed.

It will heat up as soon as the water does... bob
