Default Re: Raritan River Vs Canal

The canal and the river is feast or famine 1 day stellar the next zip.Every fish that swims can be caught in either body Ive done good fishing near rough water, bridges and where small streams enter the systems.Keep changing lures and colors, jointed plugs seem to work well in the big river for eyes, pickerel, musky stripers and smallies. Jigs with 3'' or 4'' grubs works well on small stripers, smallies ,rock bass, and perch. The canal has some large channels in it try sunnies cut into chunks. Different locks on the canal seem to hold different fish.Google maps is your friend!
