Fished off the rocks today in Deal with the fly rod. I fished from 5:30am to around 6:15am.
Water looked good as there was a moderate North East blowing and out going tide. I fished the south side of the rocks initally with a spread fly (herring immitation) but quicky switched to a Declouser/half and half fly.
This fly had a dumbell head to get it down a little in the water.
The fish hit it about 15ft from the rocks and it was a nice clean 34 incher.
I kept this fish as it is one of maybe 3 or 4 I will keep all year.
It will make a nice spring chowder. The cooked down bones and remains will go in the garden as tomato food.
Beautiful morning. Great way to start the day.
