got to the river at 8:00, just in time to watch the first cast of the season. Plenty of brookies to go around. I got my stuff on and jumped in for the last five minutes of the spinner bite, got two. switched to bait when it slowed down and nothing else to show but freezing hands and feet, it was cold this morning! Went home for a couple of hours to get the dirty shrimp ready for a striper and flounder trip tomorrow, then back to the river at 4 with my son. Worms were the ticket later in the day. My son got his first trout of the year and I landed 5 more to end the day with 7.
I have had better opening days, but at least i got a few. It was great watching my son get ready all on his own, including rigging his set up. I think Jr. is hooked
try again maybe tomorrow after striper fishin.
