You can add extensions to many rods, via the butt section. Rip the grip off, find the right insert, epoxy the hell out of it, place the new grip over it. I have done many of them, BUT..... it does depend on the rod itself and the type of insert your using.
My advice here Rich.....if you have a rod you really like, try the extension, rather than a whole new rod. If its a favorite...... you may not find the same action in a new rod. Its not hard to do, but it has to be done right, or you will end up with a broken 2pc rod.
You have the knowledge in building..... I like to find a perfect fit. I also like to get the extension up a good ways, into the rod. If its too short, it will break on you.
I have plenty of blanks laying around, if you make up some more trailing teaser rigs and bring them down, let me know. I can use more of the trailing rigs. Been sold out for a while, didnt realize it.
