I have used the same in the past. Not sure about different line colors but attaching a fluero leader or even a strip of good mono should hurt rigidity because you only need a few feet. You will lose some line strength off of the weakest line because of the knot. Meaning if you use a 20lb leader your break strength might be like 15lb test or something like that.
The only concern with that I think would be if you need to turn a fish from structure or pull it out of heavy weeds.
