That's the only relevant sentence in your entire rant. But, since you don't even carry the 5" mullet...I'm pretty sure even that's missing the point.
The bottom line is the big chains can keep costs down, and the independent shops will generally have better service/advice/hours (though this is not always the case). If a customer's priority is to save money, he knows where to go. If a customer's priority is to talk to an experienced local, or "support a small business," he knows where to go. Simple.
