Used to do it up in The Passaic River when I was a kid. Find a berry tree hanging over the water or near the edge of the river. They eat the berries and all you have to do is shake the tree, drop some berries in the water! You should get a couple to come right up to the surface! Usually can work a single tree for about an hour or so, before you need to walk away and let the fish gather again.

Sounds crazy, but I am being very honest. Its a great way to teach a kid. This is the perfect time with the trees starting to bloom too! As long as you have berries on the tree, the fish will be in that area waiting for them to fall!!!

Good Luck!
