You might want to try some dielectric grease. A dab around the base of the bulbs where they come in contact with the bulb receptical helps reduce corrosion, especially if you are unsing the trailer in salt water. Works well on boat navigation lights too.

Glad you figured out your problem and it was a cheap fix... That's usually not the case when having anything to do with boats
