Thumbs up Merrill Creek Res. another good day 9/21:

Hooked up with a buddy of mine from work and took him to MC. Went back to the same spot as yesterday. In the first hour we at least 5 lake trout, then it calmed down and we picked away for a while, I lost count. My buddy also got a small rainbow. I nailed another bullhead that smashed my herring on the way up in 70 ft. of water, close to 2 lbs and a 15" smallmouth after that. My buddy had to go to work at noon so at 11:30am I pulled anchors and headed in. Since I had plenty of bait left and the wind was calm and the sun never got very bright I headed back out. I anchored in one spot around 70ft. deep and got a laker right away. I wanted to find some more smallies so I moved to a spot in 50ft. of water. I got 3 nice ones. I measured a smallie yesterday and it was close to 20", today I got one bigger that was at least 21", I think my PB, what a great fight !!
I'm covered in fish slime after today, and I'm picking herring scales out of my hair and fingernails!! The big smallmouth made my day, no photo, got her right back into the water ASAP.
