Default Smallmouth on the Susqy above Harrisburg

I have not been spending enough time on the sweetwater this year so I made the 3 hour drive to fish the Susqy. I was with Zambonie and Brook who fish this area regularly. The water was higher than we like and had quite a bit of stain. We usually like to fish grubs and other reaction baits but there was not enough visability. The go to lure of the day was the old reliable tube bait. We caught about 100 fish between us with the largest 17". There are some many crawfish in the river that all the fish were very fat and healthy. We caught quite a few small fish too which bodes well for the future. They have now made this area catch and release only which is tremendous. I am hoping that over time this river will return to its glory days. I am feeling the pain this morning of the 12 hours of casting and kayaking and then the 6 hours of driving. I dare not complain though or I will never hear the end from the wife. I am looking forward to September and October when the the big girls come out to play and the topwater bite starts.
